This image was created during a single exposure. No exposure blending of other Photoshop trickery.

The technique was to shoot in total darkness, expose for 30 seconds, pop the strobes on the model a second or two into the exposure, and then walk behind her waving a cold cathode during the remainder of the exposure.

1. Canon Speedlite 580EX II positioned at 45 degrees to the left rear of the model, set to 1/8th power and 105mm zoom, snooted, and triggered with a PocketWizard PLUS II.

2. Canon Speedlite 580EX II positioned at 45 degrees to the right rear of the model, set to 1/8th power and 105mm zoom, and snooted, and triggered with a PocketWizard PLUS II.

3. Monobloc positioned at 45 degrees camera left (power level unknown), shot through a grid (from memory), and triggered with a PocketWizard PLUS II.

4. Monobloc positioned at 45 degrees camera right (power level unknown) and triggered with a PocketWizard PLUS II.

5. Snooted monobloc positioned at 0 degrees and positioned to illuminate the model's eyes.

6. Blue cold cathode for the background lighting.
