Bakkar the Bengal Tiger

About

Bakkar is a large male Bengal tiger who now lives at the National Zoo & Aquarium in Canberra.

During an early morning, private tour of the zoo as part of our intense stay at Jamala Wildlife Lodge, we got to see Bakkar in all his glory, basking in the morning sun.

We were fortunate enough to have Bakkar come right up to the boundary of his domain, where the enormity of his presence stood only a few metres away from us.

Despite the strong morning light and bright background, I managed to land a few shots of Bakkar as he sat peacefully.

Not only is Bakkar one of the lagrest tigers in Australia, he also carries the white tiger gene.
