Kangaroo Paw

About

With some recently planted specimens of the Australian native kangaroo paw (Anigozanthos manglesii) flower now residing in our front garden, I was keen to capture an image of one these fascinating and beautiful plants.

The warmth of the afternoon light, which shines upon the front garden, made for a great opportunity to photograph one in detail.

I originally started shooting with my 180mm macro lens, but I was not impressed with the results. Wanting a smooth and creamy background, I opted at first for the 600mm focal length, before quickly moving to the more extreme 800mm focal length.
