An Elegant Huntress
A tightly-framed portrait of one of the two Jacaranda Pride lionesses we encountered on the morning of 6 October, 2012, in the Motswari Private Game Reserve, South Africa.
Looking at the regal elegance of this fairly young lioness, it is hard to believe she is also a ruthless hunter, willing and able to attack and kill a 2,000kg buffalo in order to provide food for the pride.
It is nature at its harshest and most contradictory.
